The answer is Yes. Money is one of the wealth that must be paid as zakat al-Maal especially for the saved money. In this case, the money is obligated to be paid as zakat if it is reaching Nisab. Nisab for the money is equal to the gold.

How to calculate if my money is reaching Nisab? 

The way to calculate is easy. Basically you have to know the current price of the gold. You just only need to use this formula to calculate:

The Price of Gold x 85 (Nisab of Gold is 85 grams of pure gold).

When your money is equal to the value of this formula, you are now obligated to pay Zakat. See this sample:

The price of gold = 10 US$.
Total value of 85 grams of pure gold = 850 US$
When you save Money in bank about 15.000 US$, therefore you have obligation to pay zakat. Yyou can calculate easily:

Amount of money x 2.5 % = amount of zakat. 

15.000 x 2.5  = 375

Amount of zakat you must pay is 375 US$.
